Is all about meticulous preparation, sounds simple but the knowledge to make an F2A model with a 2.5cc engine top 300kph is exceptionally difficult. There are other classes - with pulse jet being particularly popular in the UK at present.

Paul Eisner the 2016 world champion summed up flying a speed model as: “there is nothing quite like tootling around with a model doing 100kph and suddenly it comes on the pipe and trebles in velocity. You then need to find the pylon and get the handle into in the pylon while it tries to pull you off your feet. Following that you must run around a post for 9 laps in around 12 seconds”.
Try going around a post 10 times in 20 seconds without a model to control and you will have an idea of how demanding flying speed at the top level can be!
