Popham Airfield, home to the Popham Aeromodellers and the Popham Model Airshow, is at risk from developers.
Can you help save this airfield from being lost to manned aviation and model aircraft and drone flying?
We would like to encourage members to Join Popham Airfield Matters, https://www.pophamairfieldmatters.org/ who will be able to keep you in the loop of all the latest developments. And lobby Basingstoke & Deane Borough Council (BDBC). Around 3,500 people have already joined so Popham Airfield Matters can represent their views.
We are now in the public consultation period for The Revised Local Plan (Spatial Strategy) – known as Regulation 18.
People have until January 23rd to submit their comments to BDBC. After which they will be considered and a decision will be made whether to keep Popham in the plan. As they are short of space to build the number of houses required of them, we suspect they will be VERY reluctant to drop it. The more objections the better.
If you go to https://www.pophamairfieldmatters.org/news you will find all the information that you need to submit your objection. There are links to the BDBC ‘portal’, highlights from the various constituent parts of all the reports that make up the plan (to save you having to read all 1,800 pages!) and a guide to what is perceived to be the pros of retaining Popham Airfield and the cons of developing it for housing.
