Day 2 of the Championships – First up was the Set Manoeuvres round (2). All of the GBR pilots upped their game and improved on their round 1 scores – Duncan 1st, Dave 3rd and Adam 4th. Back to the practice site to warm up for the Flight to Music round then it was back to the airfield for 1pm. Luca Pescante (ITA) was up first and flew an incredible flight – so precise and ‘to’ the music (never ‘with’). He was definitely going to be the one to beat. Duncan was the first of our pilots to fly. He flew an amazing flight but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to beat Luca. The next GBR pilot to fly was Adam. It was a very impressive flight to one track much admired by both spectators and judges – he went into 3rd place. Dave was the last pilot to fly and although he gave it his all, it wasn’t quite enough to beat Adam (9 points behind) and he finished this round in 4th place.
All in all a fantastic day. With the Preliminary rounds over I decided that the team should rest up this afternoon and enjoy a few hours relaxing at the hotel. They have all worked so hard since we have been here, they deserved some time off. Tomorrow we have a full day at the practice field before the Final rounds start on Friday.
