So the final round is over. Luca swept the board and won this round as well as all of the others, a deserving World Champion. Duncan flew an amazing flight and finished 2nd overall – a fantastic achievement. Adam and Dave tied in the music round with 472 points each. Gabriel Grunder, the Junior Austrian pilot, flew a great flight scoring 495.50 which pushed him into 3rd place overall. Dave was only 4 points behind him (out of 3000) to place 4th and Adam finished 8 points behind Dave in 5th.
I am so proud of the entire team (that includes our official supporters Ray Konstantinou and Rachael Plant) – everyone worked tirelessly and put in maximum effort. Our team Gold is well deserved.
Having cleaned the hire cars it was back to the hotel to start dismantling the models ready to pack for our flight home tomorrow. By 4pm we were back at the airfield for the Closing Ceremony where the trophies and medals were awarded. Duncan received his silver individual medal and the team their gold.
Tonight we have the banquet at the hotel where the judges are staying before we (hopefully) get a reasonably early night as we are off VERY early in the morning to drive to Bucharest to catch our flight home.
